EastEnders legends Grant and Phil Mitchell won’t even be in the same room these days

We would probably do the same if we're honest...

| Updated:

We always thought that Ross Kemp and Steve McFadden got on well.

So when the pair were spotted at the National Television Awards on Tuesday, apparently quite literally avoiding each other, it sent the gossip tongues wagging.

But for the pair, who play the soap’s Mitchell brothers, there’s a pretty valid reason.

Ross Kemp has revealed that the reason the pair keep away from each other is because they are constantly stalked for Phil and Grant selfies.

The 53-year-old told The Sun online that: “Everyone always asks for ‘Phil and Grant’ selfies.”

Well, if you’re going to be part of such iconic pairing, who can blame a fan for trying?

The pair are so popular you can even buy t-shirts with a picture of the two hard men on.

And we guess as well that it must be hard for the actor, seeing as he’s spent the last few years winning awards (including a BAFTA no less) for his series Ross Kemp on Gangs.

“But when you choose to return to the UK’s biggest soap after a stint away then people are going to get excited at the thought of Phil and Grant together.

“So far there’s been no news if the Mitchell brothers will be reunited again, but Ross hasn’t ruled it out.

“It was good to work with Steve [McFadden] again and see Adam [Woodyatt], Tish [Letitia Dean] and other members of the cast.

“Would I return again? Never say never.”

Now that’s something we can’t wait for.

EastEnders returns Monday at 8pm on BBC One
