Richard Blackwood has revealed his ambition to “crack Hollywood” while speaking of his tearful farewell from EastEnders.
And the actor and comedian’s dream could come true within weeks, as a film he made before joining the soap is finally released in cinemas next month.
Richard, who leaves Walford this Friday after playing police informant turned bar owner Vincent Hubbard for three years, said filming his final EastEnders scenes was “emotional”.
Speaking on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, he said his character’s exit would be “amazing”, adding: “It was quite emotional when we shot the final scene because everybody that I worked with on the final scene, I also started with.
“So we were hugging and there was a bit of tears and stuff but trust me, we made sure that we nailed it so that the audience are speaking about it thereafter.”

The 45-year-old joked that he hoped the scene, described as “explosive, shocking and one to remember”, would earn him the Best Actor accolade at the British Soap Awards.
“I was very lucky with EastEnders. It has been such an exciting acting class and everybody there is like a real family unit. I’m going to miss it,” Richard added.
But he said he had already set his sights on a career in Hollywood. His new movie, Welcome to Curiosity, hits cinemas on May 25.
“We shot that film before I started EastEnders. Things get shelved, there’s politics behind the scene and I forgot about it.
“Then my agent called me and said, ‘It’s coming out next month’,” Richard told Sunday Brunch hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer.
“It’s great news because I’ve always wanted to crack Hollywood and this film is going to be out in America and everywhere internationally.
“It’s the closest thing to Pulp Fiction because it’s an amalgamation of different stories intertwining.”

Richard said he would still perform stand-up comedy, adding: “I’m going to do a one-man tour and I want to do Live at the Apollo.”
His EastEnders character Vincent has had a tough few months after becoming entangled with Irish gangster Aidan Maguire’s heist.
