Mick Carter attacked by masked intruder in EastEnders twist

What's your theory?

| Updated:

Mick Carter got an unpleasant surprise in EastEnders last night (Tuesday 8 May) when he was jumped on by a masked intruder.

Strangled from behind by a man (we assume) in a balaclava, the credits rolled as a shocked Mick struggled for his life, shouting “gerroff me”…

But who was behind the attack?

Fans of the BBC1 soap were quick to speculate about who they thought was responsible for the unprovoked assault, with one name cropping up more than others…

And it’s probably NOT who you think!

During the episode, residents were uneasy when Mel spotted a suspicious car in the Square. Then, when Hunter failed to turn up at school, she feared the worst – that gangster Aidan Maguire was back for revenge.

Kim also felt spooked by the black-out car, as it brought back memories of her missing husband Vincent.

Later, when Mick went to investigate a sound in the cellar of the Queen Vic, he saw a whirring toy monkey (way more creepy that it sounds) and was ambushed.

But was the sinister car linked to Mick’s attack? While that remains to be seen, many viewers thought Mick was the victim of Halfway or his brother!

One fan wrote: “People will be saying Aidan sent that guy after Mick, but I don’t think that’s the case! I reckon this is something to do with Halfway.”

Another jumped to the same conclusion, writing: “Please tell me that’s not Halfway.”

A third was confident it was Halfway’s brother, who is Mick’s old friend and due to arrive in Walford any day now.

He wrote: “Its Halfways brother. Everyone knows it.”

Halfway has been acting very strangely since he returned to Walford from active duty in Afghanistan. But is he capable of attacking Mick?

And if it’s his brother Stuart, then what’s his problem?
