EastEnders SPOILER: Mick apologises to Carmel

He feels guilty over Shakil's death

Mick Carter is set to apologise to Carmel Kazemi in EastEnders next week as he continues to feel plagues by guilt over his part in Shakil’s death.

The pub landlord was the last person to see schoolboy Shakil alive after he’d been brutally stabbed by the gang of thugs Keegan Baker had inadvertently lured to the Square.

But as dying Shakil slurred to Mick that he needed help, Mick wrongly assumed he was drunk and sent him away from the Queen Vic.

Shakil then stubbled into the bushes in the Square where he collapsed out of sight meaning no one actually knew he’d been hurt.

Later, when Mick found a badly injured Keegan who’d also been stabbed by the gang, Keegan tried to tell him that he wasn’t the only victim.

But Mick couldn’t understand what he was saying as his condition deteriorated and Mick tried to get him to hospital. Shakil was eventually found as Masood Ahmed realised blood he’d seen in the Square hadn’t been Keegan’s.

On Friday night’s episode Carmel was told that Shakil’s injuries had been to severe to save him and she broke down as she realised her son had died.

Next week Mick will feel wretched with guilt as he realises he could possibly have saved Shakil if he hadn’t sent him away.

He then heads to the launderette where he is comforted by Karen Taylor who is also struggling with the loss of Shakil and her own son’s involvement in the incident.
