Mick and Linda Carter return from their holiday to the Klosters next week and seem to have put their marriage troubles behind them, looking stronger and more loved-up than ever.

They’ve got some great news for Woody and Whitney who’ve been holding the fort at The Vic while they’ve been away.

Despite the tension between Mick and Woody – we all remember that drunken punch – he and Linda make Woody the new bar manager of the pub.

Whitney and Woody are delighted as they’ve been planning to head back to Watford, and obviously Whit has Lauren and Lily in the Square, so she’d much rather stay.

In fact, Whit is pretty thrown by Linda seemingly forgiving her for the whole Mick thing, and letting her continue to work behind the bar at the pub.

The Mick and Linda who return from Switzerland are much more like the Mick and Linda of old, and no one is more relieved to see this than Whitney.

But it doesn’t take long for Woody to realise that not everything is quite as it seems as Linda still hasn’t told her husband she’s been treated for cervical cancer.

When Woody and Linda stop for a chat, it soon becomes obvious that Mick is still totally in the dark about his wife’s illness.

A source told Inside Soap magazine: “Linda’s cancer battle is a huge thing to keep from her husband.

“When they get back from holiday, Linda still hasn’t told Mick. Woody can’t believe it and – as they’re talking about it – Mick walks in and Linda is forced to cover.”

But does Mick buy her story – or will he sense his wife is still keeping something from him?

The spy added: “There’s just no way this choice won’t come back to haunt them.

“It’s a lie too far and Mick is going to be deeply hurt.”

Mick recently came clean to Linda about his secret kisses with Whitney – and the fact he thought he could be in love with the pretty barmaid.

His confession almost blew their marriage apart so we can’t imagine Mick being too pleased when he finds out Linda hasn’t been completely truthful with him.

And he’s sure to be even more hurt when he realises Linda’s told his best mate, Jack Branning everything.

Is the Carters’ new-found happiness set to be very short-lived?
