And it's not a pair of socks

Mick Carter is about to learn the hard way that you simply just do not cross Walford newcomer and all round hard-nut, Aidan McGuire.

We saw the much-loved pub landlord reach breaking point last night when he and wife, Linda, were offered a pub in the West Midlands, meaning they’d have to leave their friends and family on Albert Square.

As Mick realised how depressing this thought was, he exchanged some meaningful glances with Phil’s ex-cellmate, Aidan, which surely meant he was on board with Aidan’s mysterious ‘job’.

With Mick signed up, Aidan cracks on with the plans next week but is slightly miffed (that’s putting it mildly) when his new recruit fails to turn up for an important meeting.

Aidan has already had to talk a worried Vincent round and when it looks like Mick has bailed too, he’s seriously not impressed.

What Aidan doesn’t know is that Mick hasn’t backed out, he’s just been railroaded into making plans for the wedding vow renewal ceremony by an enthusiastic Linda.

And if Mick knows anything, it’s not to rock the boat with his wife when she’s on a mission.

Mick is full of apologies to Aidan, but the Irishman responds by handing Mick a sinister Christmas present that makes him realise how deep in it he is – and that crossing Aidan is just not what one does.

Not if one wants to remain in one piece, that is.

Meanwhile it looks like Linda is on the verge of discovering what her hubby is up to when she spots the Christmas present and assumes it’s her gift from Mick.

Being unable to resist a little peek, Linda’s left horrified when she sees its contents.
