Old pals Ted and Patrick have been through a lot together. And Patrick even proved how good a friend he was to Ted, when he won some money on a bet.
Instead of using the cash on his own trip to Jamaica, Patrick realised his mate was depressed and really needed to visit his son in New Zealand.
So kind-hearted Mr Trueman put his winnings in an envelope and posted it through Ted’s door.
Except then Joyce passed away and the money wasn’t mentioned – so no one realised Karen’s cheating ex, Mitch, had pilfered the dough.
Until now.
When the men are having a drink together in the Vic, Ted’s mortified when Patrick goes to take a sip from his flask, and discovers it’s actually not rum, it’s Joyce’s ashes!
Patrick’s baffled as to why Ted didn’t spend the money he gave him on a proper funeral for his wife.
And when Ted says he never got the money, the pair twig that perhaps the Taylors had something to do with the cash disappearing.
Furious, Ted storms over to see the family and confronts them about the missing money, saying he wants nothing more to do with any of them.
Obviously, Bernie’s upset by his accusations and works out it must have been Mitch who stole the cash.
She’s devastated by what he’s done to poor Ted, and looks to her mum to put it right. And luckily, Karen rises to the occasion. She explains everything to Ted and tells him it was Mitch who took the money – but she’s going to pay him back.
