EastEnders star Gillian Taylforth has revealed her partner, Dave Fairbairn has been given the all-clear from prostate cancer.
The actress, who plays Kathy Beale on the show, has told The Sun that Dave has beaten the disease after losing her former partner, Geoff Knight to stomach cancer in 2012.
“He did have to take it easy for a long time because of being unwell,” she explained. “But he has just got given the all clear for having prostate cancer and it’s been a long journey for him.
“It’s so great and he is delighted. Now he has to have check-ups every few months to see that everything is in order – but it’s been a big relief for us all.
“We are both in a really good place. Having had prostate cancer has put certain things into perspective after that – he wants us to enjoy life – and he also wants to see a lot more of his grandchildren, which is really heart-warming.”

While Gillian and Dave might be looking forward to enjoying life, someone who certainly won’t be is Gillian’s alter ego, Kathy Beale.
Although she doesn’t know it yet, Kathy’s rapist, James Willmott-Brown is back and he wants revenge on the whole Square.
He’s teamed up with vengeful Max Branning, who also hates everyone in Walford and, along with the rest of Willmott-Brown’s family, they plan to take over the Square.
James’s son, Luke, seduced Ben Mitchell, Kathy’s son, on Friday, with many believing Ben’s heading for a fall.

Meanwhile, Fi Browning – or Sophie as we discovered she’s really called – is firmly placed in The Vic getting ready to destroy the boozer, and the Carters, from within.
Speaking to The Sun about Willmott-Brown’s return, Gillian revealed: “He has still got that wonderful posh voice and it was brilliant to catch up.
“And now he is going to be in EastEnders for a while yet so there will be plenty in store for viewers.
“He believes that Kathy ruined his life so it will be interesting to see what happens between the pair.”
