EastEnders viewers fuming as soap misses important day of the year

We are livid (kinda)

Forget Valentine’s Day, the biggest event of our social calendar happened on Tuesday, when we were officially allowed to eat as many pancakes as humanly possible.

Yay Pancake Day!

But EastEnders’ bosses clearly disagree, as Tuesday night’s episode rudely ignored it altogether.

And fans were not happy, demanding to know what happened, and even calling the lapse “disgusting”!

As the rest of the country debated lemon VS syrup, the cast of EastEnders were instead preparing for the most (/least) romantic day of the year.

Donna gave out flowers on her stall, while Halfway tried to woo Whitney with a lavish meal. Cue much awkwardness as she told him she wasn’t interested.

Viewers were outraged that we’d skipped over the foodie holiday, taking to social media to complain.

One wrote: “Forgive my old age memory loss, but what happened to Pancake Day here??” Another added: “Why hasn’t Pancake Day been mentioned?”

A third tweeted: “Looks like Albert Square missed out on Pancake Day then…”

One furious tweeter even blasted: “EastEnders completely ignored Pancake Day and skipped straight to Valentine’s Day, disgusting.”

But not all viewers were unhappy. Many Valentine’s fans loved all the romance, with many getting caught up in Whitney’s love life drama.

Many felt sorry for poor Halfway, getting rejected again. “Aww, Halfway’s gone to so much trouble for Whit, I’d die for that on Valentine’s”, wrote one viewer.

Another added: “I wished Whit would get a Valentine’s card off her main man Mick”. A third tweeted: “I don’t do Valentine’s, lol, BUT if I was writing for EastEnders, I’d get Mick leaving Whitney anonymous roses and chocs with a note of love”.

Let’s all just eat more pancakes and forget about our troubles.
