ED! EXCLUSIVE: Corrie newcomer Ryan Clayton reveals more details about mysterious Josh

What's his secret?

| Updated:

Newcomer Josh Tucker only arrived in Coronation Street last Friday, but the enigmatic stranger has already made quite an impact.

He’s landed himself a job at the garage with Kevin and Tyrone, and has already got busy organising a charity boxing match in memory of murdered Luke Britton.

But personal trainer Josh is hiding a sinister secret, and he’s soon going to stir up trouble on the Street.

While Coronation Street is remaining tight-lipped on the topic, there has been much speculation in the press that Josh will sexually assault David Platt in a hard-hitting storyline due to air this spring.

Entertainment Daily caught up with actor Ryan Clayton, who plays the Corrie newbie, who is also sworn to secrecy about upcoming plots for his character!

But he did shed some light on why the charismatic young man might prove to be nowhere near as nice as he currently seems.

“He is a real charmer, a lads’ lad,” says Ryan. “He likes to be the centre of attention and he wants to be everyone’s mate.”

Ryan says Josh wanting to be everyone’s friend is what makes him get involved in organising the boxing match in the first place.

“He wants to throw himself into things on the Street,” he explains.

But he adds that Josh is often the type of lad who causes trouble.

“He’d light the fire and then run away,” he says. “Then he would try and charm his way out of it. There might be backlash, but he wouldn’t deal with it.”

We’ve seen Josh rub David up the wrong way when they first met, but now David’s agreed to train for the boxing match too – despite Shona’s misgivings – the pair are going to get closer.

“David does take a shine to Josh and it creates a bond,” Ryan reveals. “I think Josh has the sort of quality where he knows how to manipulate a friendship, and what an individual person needs.

“He sees that David wants a friend and he’s using his boxing skills to make it happen.”

Ryan is enjoying working with Jack P Shepherd, who plays his on-screen mate.

“He is great,” he says. “It’s been great to work with him and we have got on really well. I hope he says the same!”

Coronation Street continues at 8.30pm tonight on ITV
