Emmerdale fans confused by “massive plothole” in Aaron kidnap storyline

Did the soap make a mistake?

Robert Sugden’s desperate deal with Joe Tate may have saved Aaron’s life in last night’s shocking double bill (Thursday 5 April), but it’s come under scrutiny from observant Emmerdale fans.

ITV viewers were shocked when crooked criminal Syd McFarlane kidnapped Aaron Dingle and demanded a ransom of £100,000.

And Aaron’s lover Robert was forced to make a deal with the devil in his pursuit of the money.

Forced to ask Joe Tate for the money, a desperate Robert had to make two pretty huge sacrifices to save his boyfriend.

Of course, scheming businessman Joe wasn’t going to make this easy (boo, hiss).

At the end of the dramatic episodes, when Robron had been reunited, Robert admitted he’d had to sign over his shares in the haulage business, as well as their house.

And quick-witted viewers were quick to point out that the house isn’t actually Robert’s to sign over…

One pointed out: “Massive plothole in the episode tonight. Legally Robert cannot sell the Mill as it would be in Aaron’s name.”

A second observed: “How can Robert sell Aaron’s house? That can’t be legal surely?”

A third wrote: “How can Robert sell the house to Tate when it’s in Aaron’s name?”

However, the ITV soap quickly responded to the frenzy, when it tweeted a message of its own.

“Settle down..” it said. “I think we need a preview of tomorrow’s episode, yeah?”

In the sneak peek, Robert is seen uttering two all-important words to Joe: “Prove it.”

So does this mean Robert didn’t sign anything? That sounds a bit sloppy from Joe… Or will Robert go back on his promise?

Either way, we know Robron won’t give up without a fight…
