Emmerdale fans were left flabbergasted after last night’s episode showed characters Rhona Goskirk and Pete Barton doing some actual hands-on farming of all things.
Despite having dropped the ‘Farm’ from its original name, the action on Emmerdale still takes place in a farming community and it’s a bit of an in-joke for fans that not much livestock is ever seen.

But last night viewers got quite a treat as Pete was spotted trying to herd a flock of sheep into a field.
The eldest Barton brother – played by Anthony Quinlan – wasn’t managing too well (probably a lack of practise) but luckily Rhona was on hand to help.
It was actually a bit awks as Pete had stood her up the previous night, but nothing ignites the flame of love like a bit of sheep herding.
And the inclusion of some actual farm animals in the scene didn’t escape the fans’ attention.
“Great to see even the smallest bit of farming on #emmerdale tonight, we need to see more!! #emmerdalefarm” tweeted on fan, while another stunned viewer said: “Actual farming in Emmerdale.”
A third joked: “PETE BARTON IN SHOCKING #Emmerdale FARMING SCENES” and a fourth added: “Farm animals in #Emmerdale whatever next.”
The fresh air and endorphins from chasing the bundles of wool around worked wonders on Rhona and Pete who shared a kiss after the sheep were all safely shut in their field.
Pete even apologised for standing her up, before his car broke down and the vet had to help him out – again.
Sort it out, Pete.
Next week sees the pair take their budding romance to the new level as they spend the night together.
But when Rhona’s ex, Paddy Kirk, spots her sneaking out of Pete’s, he’s left seething with jealousy.
