Emmerdale fans praise Emma Atkins for heartbreaking Charity Dingle scenes

She made devastating confession to Vanessa

There were some super emotional scenes in Emmerdale last night as Charity Dingle revealed the abuse she’d suffered as a teenager to her girlfriend Vanessa Woodfield.

While consoling Tracy Metcalfe after creepy Phil was sentenced to four years in prison for blackmailing her, Charity caught a glimpse of DI Bails on a news report.

Vanessa became increasingly concerned about Charity’s erratic behaviour as she snapped at her before bursting into tears while they kissed.

The suspended vet guessed that her girlfriend had suffered something similar to Tracy’s sickening ordeal with Phil, but wasn’t prepared for Charity’s full confession.

When Vanessa suggested talking to DI Bails about whatever happened as he’d been so good with Tracy’s case, a sobbing Charity replied: “How are you supposed to report the man that raped you to the man who raped you?”

She then went on to reveal how she’d trusted Bails and he betrayed her by raping her, beating her and keeping her prisoner.

Emmerdale fans went on to praise Emma Atkins for her heartbreaking performance as Charity.

Another added: “Just caught up with Emmerdale…Oh my god Charity!!! Emma Atkins is just on another level.”

“Wow @emmerdale these Charity and Vanessa scenes. Amazing acting from Emma and Michelle,” tweeted a third.

And a fourth wrote: “Emma Atkins has always been an amazing actress. Charity has always been my favourite character and love her even more now.”

But fans weren’t impressed with Vanessa when she made the decision to call the police and report Bails’ crimes even though Charity told her she didn’t want to.

Vanessa fumed that the corrupt copper was still out there working with vulnerable people – like her sister Tracy and insisted they had to do something.

Viewers used social media to voice their anger at Vanessa’s huge betrayal and worried that her actions might mean the end of Vanity – please no!!!

“poor charity great acting sobbed my eyes out however Vanessa calling the police angered me,” raged one disappointed fan.

Another ranted: “Charity felt true love and safe with Vanessa calling her lovingly Ness putting ALL HER TRUST in her g/f only for V to go behind her back WHY @emmerdale how will #Vanity ever share trust again ?  Too soon to split them but the close bond has been broken ABSOLUTELY GUTTED.”

While a third added: “Vanessa was wrong to call the police, that’s for Charity to do, not anyone else.”
