Emmerdale fans reckon they know who smashed Ashley’s stained-glass window

And it wasn't the evil new vicar!

| Updated:

A storm is rising in Emmerdale over the stained-glass window in the church, dedicated to the memory of former vicar Ashley Thomas.

The new vicar – Reece – isn’t a fan of the, erm, flamboyant tribute to Ashley. He has said the rainbows and unicorns aren’t suitable for such a sombre memorial.

In fact, he called it “tacky” much to the local residents’ disgust.

The window was supposed to feature a design by Ashley’s son, Arthur. But when the wrong design was uploaded – thank to Sandy – the window was actually created according to a drawing by Kerry Wyatt.

Its colourful, crazy design features Ashley as half-man, half-sheep and sporting an impressive six-pack.

And Reece is not a fan!

In fact, he wants rid of the window. And in last night’s episode, it seemed he had taken drastic action to make sure he got his way.

A group of grumpy villagers went to visit the new vicar, to appeal to his good nature and tell him how much the window meant to them all.

Kerry even tried to convince him that God worked in mysterious ways – and one of those ways could have been choosing her window!

Bob asked him to think about how much Ashley’s family had already been through, and little Arthur begged him to keep the window.

But later, it seemed Reece had ignored everyone’s appeals when Laurel found the window with a huge hole smashed in it.

Viewers were quick to point the finger.

“The new vicar has broken the window and will pretend it must have been an accident,” predicted one fan.

“Evil vicar,” said another.

But other fans had a different idea.

They were convinced the real blame lay with Zak Dingle’s dog obedience classes.

They’d been throwing a ball for Tip to fetch. And viewers are convinced one of the dog trainers could be the real culprit.

“Omg the ball went through the window,” said one fan.
