Charity Dingle is stunned in Emmerdale next week when her son Ryan’s adopted mum Irene arrives in the village wanting to talk to her.
The landlady feels anxious when Irene arrives in the Woolpack as she doesn’t know what she’s come to say to her.
Charity reels when Irene lays into her about the letter she sent Ryan which apologised for the cruel way she rejected him on the phone and begged for another chance.
Irene tells Charity that she’s disrupted Ryan’s life enough now and pleads with her to leave him alone from now on.
But Charity is desperate and promises Irene that she won’t let Ryan down again. Will Irene listen or will she do her best to keep Charity away from her son?
Irene is feeling protective of the son she raised since teenage Charity abandoned him in hospital – believing he had died shortly after she’d given birth to him.
After revealing that Ryan was the product of Charity’s horrendous ordeal at the hands of DI Bails, the feisty blonde decided she didn’t decide to be in his life and drunkenly left him an upsetting voicemail telling him she didn’t want to see him again.
But sober Charity immediately regretted the actions of drunk Charity and tried to make amends by sending Ryan a letter explaining when he wouldn’t take her calls.
It was revealed earlier this year that Charity’s son was still alive after she’d spent 26 years believing he had died.
And it turned out that he’d been adopted by the nurse who helped deliver him when Charity was just a scared 14-year-old.
This came after a shocked Ryan initially wanted nothing to do with his birth mum after hearing the grim truth about his conception.
While fans had high hopes for Charity’s fledging relationship with her son, it was stopped in its tracks when Ryan rejected his mum.
Horrified Ryan asked if he was “born from hate” after discovering his dark beginnings.
Shocked Charity replied: “No it was him I hated not you.”
However, after hearing the truth about his mum’s history as a prostitute, his unplanned conception and DI Bails’ abuse, Ryan was appalled and told Charity he never wanted to see her again.
