Emmerdale praised for soap first as Liv Flaherty comes out as asexual

She confesses to Gabby Thomas

Emmerdale viewers have heaped praise on the ITV soap for an upcoming storyline in which teen Liv Flaherty bravely confesses she is asexual.

In scenes aired next week she tells her friend, Gabby Thomas, while they’re at the Pavillion waiting for Jacob Gallagher.

Liv has invited him along to set him up with Gabby, but Jacob gets the wrong end of the stick and thinks that it’s Liv who’s crushing on him.

And he couldn’t really be further from the truth.

Asexuality is when a person has no sexual feelings or emotions for another.

Gabby just thinks Liv is being picky, but Liv believes she has her support.

Viewers are already praising Emmerdale for highlighting the issue of asexuality – a soap first.

One fan messaged the soap on Twitter, saying: “@emmerdale you have no idea what it means to me as an aesxual that you’re doing this storyline with Liv.”

Another added: “Asexual representation is so important. Emmerdale, I love you for doing this.”

And a third wrote: “can’t believe emmerdale have given us what we wanted and have wrote liv as asexual !!”

Liv has already hinted to her friend, Belle Dingle, that she could be asexual when she confessed that she just didn’t like anyone.

The teenager, who is Aaron Dingle’s half-sister, arrived in the village back in 2016 played by actress Isobel Steele.
