David Metcalfe’s odd behavior sparks cheating rumors on Emmerdale

What's going on with Mr Metcalfe?

David Metcalfe returned from his retail convention in last night’s Emmerdale and immediately starting acting very oddly indeed.

Lying about where he’d been, whispered phone calls, and not noticing wife Tracy was dolled up to the nines for his benefit, all left fans convinced he’d been up to something dodgy.

And all was revealed when he finally hissed down the phone: “Leyla, I’m sorry it has to stop. This has to stop.”

David was acting shifty from the off, quizzing Megan about whether she’d heard from her former business partner “in the last day or two” and being short with Tracy.

And at Joe Tate’s party, he cancelled yet another phone call and lied that he was sure it was Jacob who’d bum-dialled him.

When Tracy called him out on his grumpiness, he wasn’t even sorry and it was clear he was up to something.

And then, right at the end of the episode, David crept into the shop and made a phonecall.

“I was out, wasn’t I? Yes with Tracy,” he whispered. Before adding: “Leyla, I’m sorry it has to stop. This has to stop.”

Immediately, Twitter went into overdrive with fans speculating he’d been off in Greece instead of a retail convention, cheating on Tracy with Leyla.

“I’m guessing David is playing away,” wrote one fan. “Is David cheating?” asked another.

Another declared that David is “so dodgy” and another said he was “a little sneak”!

And lots of fans were furious about the turn the storyline had taken.

“If David’s cheating in Emmerdale, I’m fully going to stop watching,” wailed one fed-up viewer. “He’s the ONLY DECENT ONE LEFT.”

And another said “it really shows that they can’t think of any other storylines for couples.”

But we’re not convinced everything is as obvious as it seems. Could there be another reason for David’s mysterious calls to Leyla? And if so, what could it be?
