Alfie, who’s been the Dingle’s dog since 2002, initially collapses while Zak and Lisa continue to argue about the future of Wishing Well Cottage.
The much-loved pet is quickly taken to the vet where the devastated Dingles learn he has cancer.
They have to make the very difficult decision but eventually Zak agrees on having Alfie put to sleep so he isn’t in pain any longer.
The Dingles are left shocked and saddened but things get worse for them when Morris crashes Alfie’s funeral and behaves disrespectfully.
An emotional Lisa ends up giving the scheming councillor a right hook and then stages a protest with Zak outside the cottage.
Feeling guilty, Eric Pollard, then breaks into Morris’ home – with Faith – in order to evidence to help their case.
Will he be caught? And will he be able to keep his secret under wraps?
Morris and the council want to kick the Dingles out and tear the cottage down to make way for a new golf course. And Faith’s love, Eric, is in it up to his neck.
He successfully deterred the council from pulling his own home down, unwittingly sending them gunning for his neighbours instead.
His guilty conscience was clearly gnawing away at him however when he offered to pay for a lawyer for the family.
