Emmerdale SPOILER: More heartache for Doug

He's dealt another blow as Diane and Pollard team up against him at the B&B

Life isn’t going brilliantly for poor Doug Potts at the moment, not only does he still blame himself for Gerry Roberts’ death at the B&B, but his relationship with Diane Sugden is done-zo after his romp with Brenda Walker.

And next week things get even worse for him when he is told by Diane and Eric Pollard that they don’t want him to return to work at the B&B.

Doug is stunned and left feeling awful as his life continues on its downward spiral. What will he do now?

He was left horrified last week when he confessed to having slept with Brenda not realising that a surprise party was being thrown for Diane and half the village overheard his secret.

Obviously Diane was mortified and told Doug that he would never be the man her dead husband Jack Sugden was.

Doug also feels responsible for Gerry’s death, because it was his botched DIY job that led to the B&B being a danger zone.

Of course poor Doug’s completely in the dark about the fact that Gerry was actually yet another victim of evil Lachlan’s murderous campaign in the village.

And his relationship with Diane was already in tatters before he confessed to his romp with Brenda, when she told him that she holds him responsible for Gerry’s death too.

Doug then made a terrible decision when a stranger rocked up the village claiming to be Gerry’s Uncle Terry.

It turned out that Terry wasn’t Gerry’s uncle at all, but a conman.

He took money from Doug and then robbed the B&B where he’d been allowed to stay free-of-charge after doing a runner in the middle of Gerry’s funeral.

And then there’s his daughter Laurel who is less than chuffed with him for getting jiggy with her new partner’s estranged wife.

Yeah – we can only imagine how awkward those family dinners would be.

Will Doug ever be able to get back into the good books of his nearest and dearest? Or is he well and truly in the doghouse for the foreseeable?
