Emmerdale star Amy Walsh reveals why she almost quit acting

We can't imagine anyone else playing Emmerdale's Tracy!

Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh has admitted that she very nearly didn’t get the job playing Tracy Metcalfe because she almost quit her dream of acting before she landed the role.

After appearing in Emmerdale for a short stint in 2014, Amy thought she’d missed her chance of a big break and almost quit to try her hand at a different career.

The actress recently told Sunday Post: “I was auditioning but also doing waitressing and promotion work, handing things out in the street.

“I nearly gave up a few times. I was working at a restaurant and I remember having a chat with my brother and saying that I was good with people.

I wondered whether I might try to be a restaurant manager.”

But restaurant manager wasn’t the only career that Amy was considering… “I was thinking about being a nanny as I liked looking after kids.

Those are definitely things I could have taken up but I don’t think I would ever have felt like I was doing what I was meant to do.”

But luckily for Emmerdale fans, Emmerdale asked Amy back in 2015 and the rest is now history as she has been on our screens ever since…

I’d say to anyone that if there’s something that’s all that you know and love then you should try to keep going.”

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
