Emmerdale actress Emily Head, who plays Rebecca White, has told Good Morning Britain how her dad, actor Anthony Head, is a great help to her when it comes to her career.
And although his support is emotional rather than professional, it’s still invaluable in such a cutthroat industry.
Emily appeared alongside hosts Jeremy Kyle and Kate Garraway to talk about what’s coming up for Rebecca on screen, but talk inevitably turned to her famous dad.
Anthony is perhaps best known for his role as Rupert Giles in hit American TV series Buffy The Vampire Slayer, though scores of UK audiences will know him for starring the in Nescafe adverts. He’s also appeared in the Inbetweeners Movie, the series of which was Emily’s first big break.
Speaking about her relationship with her father, the actress said: “He’s very proud. I don’t know whether my dad being an actor made me want to do it myself but it certainly showed me that I could do it and that it’s a feasible option.
“He’s always at the end of the phone if I need to ask ‘how do I go about doing this?’ or advice on auditions and he was very transparent on the slings and arrows in this business.”

Emily also discussed how much she’s enjoying Emmerdale. Her character is pregnant with Robert Sugden’s baby after a one-night stand while Rob’s husband Aaron was in prison.
It’s all got very messy and has resulted in Robert and Aaron splitting up.
Robert is currently playing nicely with Rebecca to get his hands on Home Farm while her dad, Lawrence White, is in hospital recovering from his aneurysm. Behind the scenes though, Robert is manipulating the situation to his own advantage so he can get his hands on the place.
“Every storyline that has come in has been amazing,” Emily told Jezza and Kate.
“It’s definitely exciting to be at the forefront of the show because if you were just going into the cafe and ordering a coffee from Bob all the time it would be dull.”
In fact, the actress couldn’t have any more positive things to say about the soap, continuing: “It really is such a brilliant family.
“Everyone said when I started how much they loved the people they work with and I thought ‘yeah sure, but you can’t mean everyone.’ But it really is everyone – they’re all lovely and it’s a tight community. And it’s great to get to do what I love every day.”

Things are set to get even more dramatic for Rebecca this week as Robert’s scheming steps up a gear. In order to keep Lawrence out of the way for longer, the dastardly Sugden starts putting sleeping tablets in the old fella’s drink.
But when Lawrence wakes up confused to hear a lot of noise coming from the zombie run the estate is staging, he groggily gets into his car and drives off to find out what the commotion is.
He ends up crashing into the catering stand, endangering the lives of Belle Dingle, Lachlan White, and Victoria Barton in the process.
