Eva’s exit is set to be “incredible” promises Coronation Street boss

The door is being left open in case Catherine Tyldesley wants to return

Coronation Street boss Kate Oates has promised “incredible” performances in Eva Price’s exit plot.

Catherine Tyldesley announced in December she was set to leave the ITV show and she will quit Weatherfield as her baby storyline comes to a head.

Eva is currently involved in a secret baby deal with Toyah Battersby, played by Georgia Taylor, which has led to the breakdown of her relationship with Adam Barlow.

And, according to the soap boss, the storyline will “take us through to the summer”, leading to Eva’s departure and Catherine’s “brilliant” performance.

“We’ve got a little way to go, but from what I’ve already seen, her performance is through the roof. She’s been incredible,” Kate explained.

“I’m not going to reveal the exact details of her exit, but it will take us through to the summer. What we’re doing with her and Toyah is slightly crazy, but I love it.”

Kate added: “There’s lots of drama coming up as it becomes more and more difficult for Eva to hide the fact that she’s pregnant.”

Catherine previously revealed that her character wouldn’t be killed off as the door was being left open for her return.

The 34-year-old said: “I couldn’t possibly say. I hope not. Phelan’s still knocking around… As far as I’m aware, the door is being left open. I’d love to see her when she’s 80-odd, boobs up to her eyeballs.”

Catherine added that she wasn’t leaving because she didn’t enjoy her job.

She explained: “It’s a huge change. I’ll have been there nearly eight years by the time I leave. I adore that place. It’s not a question of me not being happy.”
