Pat Phelan finally got his comeuppance in explosive scenes played out across tonight’s outing – yes he was really done for definite this time!
Soap fans know plenty about the serial killer, but what do we all know about the man behind him, Connor McIntyre?
Let us fill you in…
1. He once suffered a near-death experience
In 2003, the actor suffered a huge heart attack, while filming ITV drama Murder City.
“I should have been gone,” the actor told The Mirror.
“But, luckily, I was in Manchester just minutes from the Royal Infirmary and the NHS did a great job. I had a stent fitted and here I am, still kicking.

“I have become increasingly philosophical about things. I have had a near-death experience and that gets your priorities sorted. I have stared death in the face.”
2. He was a Jack of all trades before his move into acting
Connor’s first job, out of school, was as a lifeguard. He’s also been a coach at a local boxing club, and a car salesman in Germany! The 57-year-old didn’t get into acting until he was 30, after wandering into the Barbican theatre in Plymouth and asking if he could sit in on a bunch of thesps at work.
3. He was signed to Corrie for just three episodes originally!
Connor’s Phelan arrived in Weatherfield in 2013, for a trio of episodes, but his contract was extended to six months, so the bad builder could destroy poor Owen, and blackmail Anna into sex. He returned the following year, and has been delighting fans and terrorising the Street ever since. Hallelujah to that!
4. He might just be the loveliest soap star EVER
Soap stars are normally friendly, down-to-earth types, who genuinely love their jobs, their co-stars and their fans. You just have to see them interact with viewers on social media – Faye Brookes, Cath Tyldesley and Bhavna Limbachia, in particular.
But Connor McIntyre takes it to a new level – even liking and responding to messages from people saying they can’t wait for Phelan to be dead!
He’s decided to keep a low profile amidst the furore over Phelan’s demise, but left fans a lovely note.
MorningTweeps, I’m heading off for a couple of days, have a blessed #Easter weekend.Thank you for all the love & laughter over this last week & I hope you all enjoy what promises to be a BIG night of #Corrie drama tonight .. you are the best. 💞🐣🙏 #Easter #Corrie #Phelan pic.twitter.com/0AeO7PpzRe

See, how sweet is that?
5. He’s an incredible artist
And, no, we don’t just mean in a little-hobby-to-unwind kind of way. He has a First Class Hons in Fine Art degree, and MA in Contemporary Art Practice!
Connor is also the founder and co-director of The Alamo Project, an independent artist-led studio space in Plymouth. (Where does he find the time?)
