Coronation Street’s Steve McDonald has had his share of heartbreak – and done a bit of heartbreaking himself – over the years. But now he’s rekindled his romance with old flame Tracy Barlow, things look unusually calm.
So could something – or someone – be on their way to Weatherfield to drop a big old spanner in the works?!
Former Corrie star Angela Griffin – who played Steve’s girlfriend Fiona Middleton – has hinted that she’d love to return to the show following the news that Sean Wilson is going to return as Martin Platt.
Speaking on Lorraine this morning, Angela said she’d “never say never” to going back to the show that kickstarted her career.
“If Sean Wilson is going back, you never know who else goes back. You never know,” she joked.
“It would have to be a cracking storyline,” Lorraine pointed out, and Angela agreed it would definitely have to be something huge to lure her back to the cobbles.
“It would have to involve Steve McDonald,” she said.

Angela’s alter-ego Fiona was in a relationship with Steve before he broke her heart by cheating on her with his first love Vicky Arden.
Fiona went on to have a fling with Steve’s dad, Jim, which led to her being jilted at the altar by her fiance Alan – dad to her son Morgan. She later got back with Steve, but he cheated again so Fiona fled the Street with her baby boy.
It’s almost 20 years since Angela starred in Corrie, and since then her career has gone from strength to strength.

She’s starred in all sorts of TV dramas including Brief Encounters, Ordinary Lies, and Waterloo Road.
But we’d love to see her back on the cobbles stirring up trouble for Steve and Tracy! Plus, son Morgan would be almost 20 now – maybe he could join his mum in Coronation Street too?
