On Tuesday we literally gasped in shock as Bake Off golden boy Liam Charles got the boot. He cried. We cried. It was all a desperately sad affair.
Liam failed to impress the judges in ‘Forgotten Bakes’ week, despite – some might say – doing a whole lot better than others (yep, we’re looking at you, Kate.)
The contestants were set a sweet and savoury challenge, followed by an old fashioned booze-drenched tart finishing the nail-biting quarter finals with a show-stopper of a sponge.
And it was here – with some soggy spun sugar work – that Liam’s Bake Off journey failed to rise to the occasion.
Sandi Toksvig delivered the devastating, sob-inducing news with Noel Fielding getting to sleep easy and crown Stacey star baker.

The nation however was NOT happy with the decision with Twitter erupting with claims of a fix and promises of never, ever watching again. Like, ever.
Poor Liam cried along with the rest of the nation when he was sent home.
As he mopped his tears on his apron, we were all pretty heartbroken for him.
It had seemed disaster was in store for Stacey after she BROKE her oven door during the showstopper challenge.
Fortunately, she managed to get her cake done in time and was even awarded Star Baker for her efforts.
It seems to be a bit of a sour turn of events for the show which has received nothing but massive thumbs up for its much talked-about revamp after switching sides from the BBC to Channel 4.
Viewers have been delighted with Mel and Sue’s replacement of Sandi and Noel and even Prue Leith has filled Mary Berry’s very large shoes.

But without Liam’s adorable face to watch next week, the fate for Bake Off’s viewing figures are hanging in the balance and we’ll be honest, we’re not even sure we’ll tune in…
…who are we kidding? We’ll be there with hot water crust bells on.
The Great British Bake Off returns next Tuesday at 8pm on C4 for the semi final.
