GMB: Adil Ray praises ‘brilliant’ Kate Garraway for inspiring viewers to donate blood plasma

Following an episode last week

Adil Ray praised his GMB co-host Kate Garraway for inspiring those watching the programme with comments she made last week about her husband Derek.

On Good Morning Britain recently, Kate opened up about asking doctors if she could help her husband – who remains in a serious condition in hospital with health issues related to COVID-19 – by donating blood plasma.

What did Adil Ray say to Kate Garraway on GMB?

And on the programme today (Tuesday, August 11), the presenters revealed there has been an influx in Brits registering to donate their own blood plasma for those who need it in the pandemic.

Adil heaped praise on Kate for inspiring those who watch Good Morning Britain with her comments.

He said: “Could donated blood plasma save the lives of COVID-19 patients? This is something you spoke about.”

“Last week, yes,” Kate said. “It was something that came to light as a useful tool which I was asking if I can do back in April for Derek.

I think this is a brilliant thing.

“Then, it was pre the first trials of its use for covid so I wasn’t allowed to. Because they didn’t know how safe it would be either for Derek or for anyone else involved. Now it’s something people are doing.”

Adil told her: “Well I think this is a brilliant thing. As a result of you talking about it, a lot of people have expressed an interest now to take part.”

“Yeah, they’ve registered to donate plasma,” said Kate.

“Absolutely brilliant,” Adil Ray replied. “It’s great, it’s one of those moments, isn’t it.”

Inspiring people to help others

He went on to say: “There’ll be some of you out there who may well have suffered and have had this coronavirus, but there may be something you can do to help others.”

Elsewhere on today’s Good Morning Britain, Adil and Kate chatted with Dr Sarah Jarvis about keeping cool during warm summer nights.

And one piece of advice the TV GP had for remaining comfortable enough to get a good night’s sleep left Kate confused.
