GMB host Kate Garraway left doctors baffled yesterday when they discovered the star had somehow managed to get a contact lens stuck behind her eye.
The ITV star complained to fans earlier this week on social media that she had been suffering from agonising eye pain, but said she had no idea what the cause could be.
Eventually, it all became too much for her to handle and she took herself to hospital to see if doctors could help.
What did Kate Garraway say on GMB about her eye?
She told co-host Ben Shephard that a team of nurses examined her eye and were stunned at what they found.
They realised there had been a small piece of her contact lens lodged behind her eye for almost a week.
Kate told viewers that she’s mortified that she hadn’t realised she hadn’t taken out her lens properly.
“It turned out to be an extraordinarily complicated medical problem,” she joked.
“A team of eye nurses were absolutely baffled. It was actually a contact lens stuck up in the top of my eye. It had been there for about six days!”
“I thought I had taken it out but there was a sneaky bit remaining,” she added.
“I feel a little bit embarrassed, like I had taken up people’s time just of being untidy.”
She confessed she’s wearing contact lenses even though doctors told her to only wear glasses while her eye recovers.
