Laura Tobin shares joy as premature baby Charlotte comes home

She updated worried fans and colleagues today

| Updated:

Good Morning Britain weather presenter Laura Tobin joined the show today to reassure viewers she and her baby are doing well following her shock premature birth.

Laura shared an adorable snap of her daughter – named Charlotte like her mother’s GMB colleague Charlotte Hawkins – and said she is doing well following her very early arrival.

She told Susanna Reid they are all now back home after a worrying few weeks.

Susanna said they’d all been “desperate for news” about mother and baby.

Laura reassured her:  “We’re doing well, we are back at home now after being in hospital for quite a while. She gave us quite a shock.”

She added that the only person who wasn’t surprised about Charlotte coming before her due date was Piers Morgan.

“Piers told me ‘the baby is coming today’ and he was right!” she said.

Laura said staff at Reading Hospital were amazing as they cared for her and her premature baby and she couldn’t thank them enough.

She also said she’s been touched by all the support of her GMB colleagues and the good wishes and gifts she’s received from viewers.

Laura tweeted at the beginning of September about how Charlotte had arrived “much earlier than planned” and today she shared a picture of her little girl for the first time.

Speaking on GMB over the phone, she said she and her family are “so relieved” that their daughter is well after an agonising few weeks.

She said: “We didn’t know what to expect but she has been so brave every day so we had to stay positive as she is so positive.”

She added she’s delighted to finally have her home, even though she isn’t letting her mum get much sleep.

Laura dodged a question from Richard Madeley asking when she will return for maternity leave, as Susanna told her to “take your time” and enjoy life with her newborn.
