When Gemma meets the hunky newcomer, she can’t help but parade him around the Rovers, but Liz McDonald soon realises she’s met this guy before.
It’s then revealed that Gemma’s new love interest is actually heir to the Newton and Ridley fortune, making him a very eligible bachelor indeed.
Liz tells Gemma: “Well you have certainly landed on your feet there lady.” Gemma initially thinks that Liz means he’s hot.
But then Liz tells her he’s the grandson of Cecil Newton, the boss of Newton and Ridley brewery – the man who fell in love with former Rovers landlady Bet Lynch.
A source from Corrie told The Daily Star: “Gemma is simply knocked for six by the revelation.
“It means he is not only handsome but he’ll be heir to the Newton and Ridley fortune.”
Cecil passed away in 2013 as he prepared to marry Bet.
His son, Phillip, schemed to kill him by causing a huge argument that caused a heart attack.
Phillip then inherited the Newton and Ridley fortune from his dad.
