A contestant on The Chase was forced to fib to host Bradley Walsh about how he would spend his prize money because he had to keep the real reason a secret.
James MacGregor, 34, filmed an episode of the game show in October last year and wanted to win some cash so he could propose to his long-term girlfriend Rebecca.
However, in order to keep the planned proposal secret, James instead told Bradley that he would spend the money on a holiday or maybe another dog during the episode, which aired on Tuesday evening.

James, who won £8,000 on the show, told Bradley: “It depends how much I win but me and my girlfriend have a Labrador at home and I want another one so we could get one of those.
“If I win loads of money, ultimately I would like to go on a trip around America.”
But housing officer James – who is the vice chairman of the Liverpool Quiz League and takes part in competitions across the country – revealed what he really spent the money on in a new interview with the Liverpool Echo.
He said: “I bought an engagement ring for my girlfriend – we got engaged in December last year.
“I bought that and I said on the show, when they ask you what are you going to spend it on, I said a holiday because I didn’t want to give it away.
“I said we might get another dog as well – and we did get another one.”
The quizzer said Rebecca wanted to start booking the holiday he’d mentioned on the show but he had to try to keep putting her off until Christmas Day when he proposed.

James revealed he got down on one knee on Christmas Day and gave her the engagement ring and the couple are now planning their wedding and an incredible honeymoon driving around America.
James earned an impressive £11,000 during the Cash Builder round and took home £8K during the final chase.
