The preview teased fans will see family shocks for both Fletch and Zav and Donna, old flames back on the scene for Frieda and Sacha, and possible heartbreak for Serena and her family.
Here’s a round up of the top upcoming storylines, who’s coming back and who may be going from the show as revealed in the trailer…

Familiar faces
TV bosses have promised there will be plenty of guest appearances from classic characters during Holby’s anniversary year – and returns for Denis Lawson and Sharon D. Clarke will be the first of them.

Tom Campbell-Gore actor Denis reprises his role as a cardiothoracic consultant who must compete against old rival Ric to win funding.
He will also introduce new surgeon Ange Godard (Dawn Steele) to Holby. Unfortunately, she does not seem to hit it off with Jac Naylor…

Sheilagh Chiltern and Carole Copeland are also back on the ward as patients – could Lofty’s nan and Dominic’s mum meet at last?
There’s also an appearance from Dr Zosia March on the way, and she’s all scrubbed up and ready for surgery in the trailer.
Bernie’s son Cameron will also be working alongside Nicky on the CT team and Sacha’s beloved Patricia is also spied sharing a lift with the surgeon.
Plus Frieda’s old boyfriend Roman also turns up – but his future does not seem assured when he’s seen undergoing an op.
New faces
Fletch is introduced to Jayden – a young man who addresses Steven as ‘dad’. However, Steven – as always – has an explanation…
Bob’s real life daughter Francesca debuts as his character Sacha’s daughter Beka. She will help him as he continues to struggle with severe depression.
And the daughter of uncompromising newbie Ange is also near by – the character of Chloe is believed to have a job at Holby, too.
A potential goodbye?
It may not be much of a happy new year for Jason as he is seen being calmed by Serena and told not to panic.
