There’s drama in store in Holby City next month when former Doctor Who Paul McGann arrives as Professor John Gaskell in a special two-parter.
The exciting episodes also feature Jac Naylor (Rosie Marcel), Ric Griffin (Hugh Quarshie) and Henrik Hanssen (Guy Henry).
They will air on Tuesday December 5 and Thursday December 7.
In the first episode, Professor Gaskell’s arrival sets changes in motion. And Raf (Strictly’s Joe McFadden) is reminded of why he fell in love with medicine in the first place.
With everyone focusing on Gaskell, Sacha (Bob Barrett) shares his concerns that they should really be concentrating on Jac, who’s feeling pressured.
But those worries are soon overshadowed when Holby is plunged into darkness, facing the biggest threat the hospital has ever experienced.

In the second episode, Gaskell’s caught in the middle of the chaos that’s unfolding on the wards.
Meanwhile Ric forces his way into the hospital, determined to help despite being suspended from duty.
But how will they cope when their whole world is torn apart?
“I’m enormously proud of the Holby cast, crew and our lead writer Andy Bayliss for this stunningly dramatic and moving two-part event,” said Simon Harper, executive producer of Holby City and Casualty.

“You’ll see our NHS heroes instinctively rush towards the hospital’s greatest peril yet in a story that changes lives forever.
“The fact that the episodes will introduce Paul, one of our country’s most internationally renowned screen talents, is the icing on the cake.”
