Hollyoaks star Adam Rickett has confessed something very surprising about his long and successful acting career.
He watches every episode of every show he’s in, to make sure he’s getting it all right.
Adam shot to fame when he played Nick Tilsley in Coronation Street – but he had no acting training before he stepped on to the cobbles.
So, he told OK Online, he has developed his own way of learning his craft, by watching his performances.
“Corrie was literally my stage school. I had never had a single drama class in my life before I got Corrie,” he said. “It was a great learning experience.”
And he added: “People always say ‘oh I never watch myself on TV’ but watching yourself is the best thing. You learn so much.”
Adam was pushed into the spotlight when his character Nick Tilsley shared the first Corrie gay kiss with Todd Grimshaw – though Nick wasn’t a willing participant.
After he left Coronation Street he headed Down Under where he played Kieran Mitchell on Shortland Street for three years.
Now he’s starring in Hollyoaks as Kyle Kelly – and his alter-ego is causing quite a stir in the village – with more drama ahead.
