I’m A Celeb camp hit with ANOTHER threat ahead of launch night

Let's hope this year's contestants are made of strong stuff!

We’ve already had warnings of extreme weather and more poisonous spiders than usual in the run up to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! starting.

But now this year’s star contestants have been hit with ANOTHER nasty warning ahead of the new series – be aware of dangerous snakes slithering around the camp!

Yuck.

Now, snakes lurking in the jungle aren’t really a surprise – but according to The Mirror, a spell of cold weather in Oz has brought them out in greater numbers than previous years.

An insider said: “The unseasonably cold weather has brought the snakes out as they try and find somewhere warm.

“This will be an ongoing problem this year, which is not good news for the celebrities.

“Medic Bob and the team will have to be on the lookout for anything dangerous as a snakebite can easily prove fatal if not treated quickly.”

Scary.

One of the show’s executive producers, Richard Cowles, has already come across a snake in camp – though thankfully not a poisonous one.

As well as keeping on the lookout for snakes, campers have reportedly been told to stay alert for nasty spiders in camp.

Again, it seems the unseasonable weather is to blame with more spiders than usual out in force.

Dr Robert Raven told the Daily Star: “In the past we’ve had early rain and nothing. Just really dry summers. But this summer, the rain is allowing the whole system to  crank up again. People should check everywhere.

“If you pick up your towel, the next thing you know you could have a huntsman on your face. A lot of spiders are pretty harmless, but redbacks are of particular concern.”

Meanwhile, insects and scary creatures aside, celebrities may also have to deal with some pretty extreme weather.

According to The Mirror, meteorologists have predicted high-speed winds and dangerous UV levels for the region where I’m A Celeb is filmed. Eek!

According to Weatherzone, the risk of high UV levels is “extreme” while the chance of rain in the week leading up to the show airing reaches 90 per cent on some days.

Pack your brollies, people!

Of course, extreme weather warnings and I’m A Celebrity is nothing new.

Just last week there were dramatic reports that the show was at risk of a “wash-out” after tropical storms were forecast for the area.

The Daily Star claimed forecasters have predicted a series of storms will batter the region around the time the show kicks off.

AccuWeather’s Jason Nicholls told the newspaper: “An early start to the season is expected with a named cyclone forming before the end of December.”

The brave celebs entering this year’s Aussie jungle have yet to be confirmed officially but given the likes of Hollyoaks’ Jamie Lomas and Coronation Street’s Jennie McAlpine have arrived in Oz, we think it’s safe to say they’re taking part!
