The I’m A Celebrity 2021 launch night viewing figures are in and it’s bad news for ITV.
I’m A Celebrity, fronted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, launched last night (November 21).
It saw Frankie Bridge and Richard Madeley go head-to-head to win the keys to the castle.
However, it clearly wasn’t enough to get as many viewers as last year tuning in!
How many people watch the launch of I’m A Celebrity 2021?
Last night, a peak of 9 million viewers tuned in to watch the show.
And, although it was the channel’s most-watched programmed of the weekend, the numbers paled in comparison to last year’s launch show.
That had a whopping 10.9 million viewers – meaning this year is almost 2 million down on 2020’s opening night.

However, cast your minds back to what was happening at the time… a big fat nothing!
Britain was in the middle of lockdown and Brits were stuck indoors with nothing but telly to entertain them, which could be the reason for the bumper viewing figures.
While last year’s show broke viewing records, last night’s reached an average of 8 million viewers.
Nonetheless, it still secured a 46% share of the night’s audience.
The launch show was also a hit with younger viewers, with a massive 73% share of all 16-34 year olds watching TV at that time.
What’s happening on I’m A Celebrity tonight?
I’m A Celebrity 2021 continues tonight (November 22) at 9pm on ITV with Danny Miller and Snoochie Shy’s eating challenge.

Earlier today, ITV released a preview of the task, and Snoochie was seen breaking down in tears when she was asked to eat a cow’s nose.
Danny, meanwhile, was landed in it by his fiancée Steph on Loraine this morning as she revealed he has a “very very very weak gag reflex”.
It should make compelling viewing…
So who will win the challenge tonight? There’s only one way to find out… You’ll have to tune in!
