I’m A Celebrity conversations in camp accused of being false

Bosses are said to be annoyed that there are no clashes between this year's campmates

One of the best things about I’m A Celeb is when campmates banter, argue and clash around the camp fire.

But this year the contestants’ conversation has been so dull that show bosses are worried viewers are going to turn off.

So they’ve been suggesting topics to discuss in the hope that the campmates will start to spark off each other.

The topics are given to contestants through the bush telegraph and take the form of questions for them to answer with the other campers.

So far they’ve chatted about their career highs, and what it feels like to be recognised in the street – both topics suggested by show bigwigs.

“They were hoping the inclusion of strong characters like Jamie Lomas, Stanley Johnson and Rebekah Vardy would spark a few lively debates,” a source told The Sun.

“But that has yet to materialise at all. ITV has used the technique of scripting reality in other shows like The Only Way is Essex and have seen amusing results.

“If viewers are wondering why conversations around the campfire feel a bit forced, it’s because they are.”

So far, the only conflict in the jungle has been between boxer Amir Khan and politician Kezia Dugdale.

They argued over how many logs to put on the fire and later Amir confided in Jamie that he was finding it hard to get along with the MSP.

“She’s just mad isn’t she?” he said.

Their clash happened just a day after bosses were said to be annoyed at the lack of impact Kezia had made on the camp.
