Iain Lee broke down in tears last night after failing to win any stars in his Bush Tucker trial, and it prompted a conversation among his campmates about crying.
Amir and Becky both said it could be interpreted as a sign of weakness, while Jamie Lomas said the problem with many men was that they don’t cry.
It transpires that Iain has a history of depression and is on anti-depressants in the jungle.
“I take loads of medication. I’m on some really strong pills. I take anti-depressants and I meditate.
He said of his time on the show: “Meditation is going to be the key.”
The TalkRadio host revealed that he had turned down offers to appear on I’m A Celebrity in the past because of his mental health.
“When I’ve been asked a couple of times before I haven’t felt well enough. I wouldn’t do it if I felt wobbly,” he explained.
But the timing was right this year.
“I’m in quite a good, stable space at the moment so I’m not worried about going in and feeling suicidal,” added the dad of two.
“They psych test you with a really quite intense conversation with the psychiatrist and I was very open and honest about my depression.”
The 44-year-old has been refreshingly honest about money being a big factor in him doing the show.
“A really big pay cheque at this precise moment in my life would be really handy,” he admitted.

“I’ve got kids aged seven and five and they eat money. It’s just to try and make their life a little bit easier and a little bit nicer. I’m doing alright.
“I saved a few quid from back in the day, but it would just be nice to have a little bit more money and a nice Christmas for the kids.”
Hopefully his time on the show will help dispel some myths about depression and mental health issues.
