I’m A Celebrity’s Joe Pasquale confronted by angry mum at car boot sale

The comedian offered a refund

I’m A Celebrity’s Joe Pasquale may have thought he had it tough in the jungle, but that was nothing compared with coming face to face with a disgruntled customer at a car boot sale.

The former campmate, who braved snakes and critters during his time on the hit ITV show, had to defend himself when he was accused of selling an interactive DVD game of the series with pieces missing.

He was taking part in Channel 4’s Star Boot Sale, which features five celebrities each week competing to earn the most by flogging personal possessions at a car boot sale, with the cash going to charity.

But he faced a foe even more fearsome than crocodiles, scorpions and wichetty grubs in the form of the mother of a woman who bought his copy of the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! DVD game for £20 from his stall.

She told him: “My daughter bought the Celebrity game off you and she said some of it is missing.”

Joe, the I’m A Celebrity series four winner, insisted: “No, there’s nothing missing. All there is in there is a DVD. That’s all that comes with it.”

Still not satisfied, the woman got the comedian to speak to her daughter on her mobile.

He told her: “When I opened it, that was all that was in there.

“We’ve got it on film that when we opened it, under the cellophane, that was all that was in there. We actually filmed us opening it.

“If you want to bring it back, it’s no problem. Just bring it back.”

He said afterwards: “It’s just a little video game. I feel very sorry for the lady that Ant and Dec aren’t in there but they don’t come with the box.”

Among the more satisfied customers were a man who bought Joe’s signed photo of David Essex for £20 and a woman who paid £10 for his blow-up sheep.

Ahead of the event at Huntingdon Racecourse in Cambridgeshire, where Joe was raising money for Diabetes UK, he said: “I love car boot sales. I’ve been to loads.

“I actually bought a stuffed fox in a barrel once. I’ve no idea why.”
