Viewers were left in tears as an 11-year-old’s heartbreaking battle against cancer was remembered in last night’s Great Celebrity Bake Off.
Young Eve Lyons was “the cool kid everyone wants to be friends with” before she was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer in 2015, proud sisters Meg and Beth recalled.
Seen healthy and dancing in family footage taken one Christmas, the terrible physical changes wrought on Eve by the Stage 4 Ewing Sarcoma were evident as she then told the camera told how doctors explained her battle could be a long one.

Wearing a red headscarf, the brave youngster remembered being confused by her mother being upset when Eve thought her recovery would take only a few days.
“I didn’t cry,” she said, going over how she had been told her treatment could last for over a year.
“But I didn’t realise what was ahead.”
Eve was later shown nodding with her eyes closed and holding back tears as she was told by a consultant that her current treatment was not working.
Having been recommended a different course of chemotherapy, mum Suzanne reflected: “The list of treatments that there is, they can work their way through but there won’t be anything left.”
She continued: “All you want is to have her back and normal.
“It just seems like such a long time.”
In an extremely distressing moment, Eve wailed in pain as her sisters attempted to help her get dressed and into a car.
With the cancer causing Eve unbearable pain across her body, agony was etched across her face as she limped through the front door of her home in Kettering, Northamptonshire.
For her family, Eve’s suffering was almost too much to bear.
Overcome with emotion, her sister revealed: “There was a point where I looked at her… on the couch and she didn’t have any weight on her and there were lumps on her head the size of a tangerine and I just thought: ‘You know what baby, if you want to to go, go.'”
Eve died in June 2017, aged just 11.
Viewers were devastated by the short film.
