Fans of Love Island may be able to get their fix in the colder months too, as ITV bosses are reportedly in the process of planning a winter series of the show.
It’s been reported that the extra version of the dating series would be filmed in South Africa after Christmas.
Producers are said to be keen to cash-in on the prime time show and it would follow the same format as the current series.
It comes after one of ITV2’s newer reality series, Survival of the Fittest, apparently didn’t get the success the channel hoped for.
A source told the Sun Online: “After the flop of Survival of the Fittest producers want to keep the format simple and mop up the gaping hole Celebrity Big Brother left reality TV hungry audiences.
“Winter Love Island makes sense as fans adore the drama and love triangles and everyone wants to enjoy a bit of sun on screens in the cold winter months.”

The insider added: “It’s still in the very early stages and casting isn’t even close, but producers at ITV Studios and crew are definitely gearing up for it.”
A representative for Love Island declined to add comment when contacted by Ent Daily.
It would mean that the new show could replace the airtime gap of Celebrity Big Brother, which aired every January before the show was axed last year.
Love Island has become a huge hit for ITV. The show is believed to generate around £25 million per year in advertising.

It’s not been reported whether long-running host Caroline Flack would also front the winter version of the show.
