Jessie Wallace has revealed more details about the return of her popular EastEnders character, Kat Slater.
The actress, 46, will be making a dramatic comeback to Walford next week and fans can’t wait to see what scriptwriters have got in store for her.
But many have been speculating about the absence of her husband Alfie Moon (played by Shane Richie). Are they still together or not?
Brassy Kat will return with several family members, including Jean Slater and Big Mo, but NOT her hubby.

We last saw them onscreen together in BBC spin-off Redwater. The series followed the fictional pair as they headed to Ireland to look for Kat’s long-lost son.

Now, Jessie has opened up about Alfie’s absence.
In an interview with the Radio Times, she says: “It did feel weird coming back without Shane.
“I’d like Kat to be more with her family. I like the banter and them getting up to mischief. And I’d like her to be single for a while. I want to build the Slaters back up and see where it goes from there.”

In a chat with Metro.co.uk, Jessie added: “I want her to be Kat on her own for a while. It’d be great if Shane came back as Kat and Alfie go together so well. But I’m enjoying running around with my nan and my cousin at the moment.”

Meanwhile, actor Shane has hinted that he’d love to return to Albert Square.
He recently told The Express: “I wouldn’t – and in fact have never declined going back to EastEnders – as it’s part of my life. It’s like family!
“And it goes without question that if EastEnders want me, I’d jump at the chance of stepping back into Alfie’s boots!”
Kat returns in a double bill on Thursday 22 March at 7.30pm and 9pm on BBC One.
