The TV star, 54, confesses that she hasn’t been to Church “since Derek got sick.”
Her confession leads her to start crying before she takes a moment to herself to pray.
“I haven’t been to church since Derek got sick,” she says.
“We used to go regularly. Derek is a faithful churchgoer, but we haven’t been inside one and it does feel like there’s an incredible sense of peace.
“It makes me feel quite emotional, actually. Well if you’re ever going to pray in your life you’ll pray here.”
After taking moment to reflect, Kate shares who she thought about while praying.
She says: “I think there’s something very powerful in prayer, whatever form it takes for you. For me, a classic prayer – I believe to God – is a very special thing. You can probably guess what I’m praying for.”
Kate has earned huge praise for her honesty about Derek since he fell seriously ill with Covid last year.
He spent over a year in hospital and still needs around the clock care, but he is now back at the family home.
Their journey will be documented in a new ITV film which will be a sequel to the NTA-winning Finding Derek.
Kate’s episode of Walking With… airs on BBC Two at 7 pm on Wednesday
