When news broke that Michelle Connor would get caught up in Phelan’s crossfire on her wedding day next week, fans were left fearing the worst.
But actress Kym Marsh who plays the beloved character has revealed that she has just signed another 12 month contract with the soap, confirming that she won’t be leaving the show any time soon.
Phew!
Kym revealed in her column in OK! Magazine: “I’m really pleased to announce I’ve signed to Corrie for another year.”

“It’s great to know that I’ll be there for another 12 months doing what I love doing and being with my friends.”
But just because she doesn’t die at the hands of evil Phelan, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have a drama-packed week ahead as she prepares to marry Robert Preston.
Tonight’s visit to the cobbles sees Robert and Michelle getting ready for an impromptu night out, only for the groom-to-be to collapse with chest pains.
Michelle is terrified and calls an ambulance, but after tests at the hospital he tells his wife-to-be that he had just been pushing himself too hard at the gym.
Little does Michelle know he is covering the fact he actually had a heart attack.
Steve McDonald soon finds out the truth from Michelle’s son Ali, but will he tell Michelle ahead of her big day?
Next week sees Coronation Street on screen every evening in what promises to be one of the biggest weeks the show has ever seen.

Not only is it the week of Michelle and Robert’s wedding, but of course Pat Phelan is back for his final revenge on the cobbles.
With bride Michelle shot by the serial killer on her wedding day, it looks like it will certainly be a day that no one will ever forget.
Coronation Street airs an hour-long special tonight at 7:30pm.
For the rest of the week Coronation Street airs on Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV.
