Star of The Voice UK LeAnn Rimes has been open about her mental health battle, which resulted in a stay in rehab.

The chart-topping singer, known for her global hits Can’t Fight The Moonlight and How Do I Live, rose to fame at 14. At the 1997 Grammy Awards, LeAnn won two awards, including Best New Artist. To this day, she remains the youngest winner in the category. She has since ventured into television and acting.

Despite huge success and her career still going strong over three decades later, LeAnn admits the pressure led to stress.

The Voice star LeAnn Rimes checked into rehab the day after her 30th birthday

“Being in the public eye from the time I was very young and having to override my humanness I think was a huge part of my experience with anxiety and depression and what was triggering it,” she told Insider in 2022.

LeAnn recalled checking into a rehab clinic the day after she turned 30 years old in August 2012.

“I was in a very, very dark place. I had never been alone,” she said. “There was always someone around, whether it be a parent or a manager, an agent or a publicist, or a husband, or whatever it was.”

The Life Goes On hitmaker stated it was “time for me to break away from my deep codependency”. LeAnn said it was necessary for her to “figure out what was chemically going on to be able to take care of myself”.

Seeking help was ‘the best gift’ LeAnn gave herself

This isn’t the first time LeAnn has been vocal about her mental health.

In 2012, she told PEOPLE: “This is just a time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and come back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be.”

In 2020, she admitted that seeking herself was “the best gift I could’ve given myself”.

LeAnn, who married actor Eddie Cibrian in 2011, admitted her mental health had “such a weight” on her marriage. “Eddie and my friends and those close to me experienced pain through my eyes. They weren’t exempt from it,” she said.
