Linda Robson slammed for not watching Diana documentary in fiery debate on Loose Women

Fellow panellist accused her of letting the late princess down

There’s usually a heated debate of some sort on Loose Women, but today touched on the sensitive subject of the Princess Diana documentary which aired last night.

The show’s panellists fiercely disagreed about whether it was right to tune into the show and if it is what Diana would have wanted.

Jane Moore seemed to get a little annoyed with Linda Robson when she revealed she made the decision not to watch the documentary. Linda explained her reasoning as she said: “I decided not to [watch it].

“I just kept thinking about her boys and how they’d feel watching their mum on there.”

She continued: “I just wanted to remember her for all the amazing stuff she did. I just remember her being a normal mum and taking the kids to a theme park, which no royal had ever done before.

“I just wanted to remember her for all the work that she did for aids and HIV and the different charities. So I decided not to, I watched Hell’s Kitchen instead!”

But Jane wasn’t happy about this at all, and she revealed she had met Diana on many occasions. She told Linda: “I think you’ve let her down.”

She said: “I think this programme is really important. I think it’s good to see her point of view.”

When Linda fought back, asking how she had let Diana down, Jane replied: “Because she would have wanted you to see that.

“I met her many, many times and there’s no way she would have done those videotapes if she didn’t know that at some point they would – ” but at that point Linda cut her off by saying: “She didn’t know that she was going to get killed in 20 years.”

Jane later continued to talk about Diana and Charles, as she said: “Diana was 19 years old and I think she did believe that was going to be her happily ever after.”

She seemed to take aim at Camilla Parker Bowles when she explained: “Imagine that person [Charles] just doesn’t love you, and why don’t they love you? Because there’s this other woman over here who’s pulling all of the strings.”

The documentary, Diana In Her Own Words, aired last night and has divided viewers over whether it was right to broadcast the tapes which up until now had not been aired on British TV.

It was widely reported that Diana’s brother Earl Charles Spencer tried to stop the programme being shown to the public because of how it could affect William and Harry.

But despite many viewers criticising Channel 4’s decision to run it, a spokesperson defended this.

They said: “The excerpts from the tapes… are an important historical source.

“We carefully considered all the material used in the documentary and, though the recordings were made in private, the subjects covered are a matter of public record and provide a unique insight into the preparations Diana undertook to gain a public voice and tell her own personal story, which culminated in her later interview for Panorama.”
