It was supposed to be the moment when the identity of the mysterious ‘H’ was revealed in last night’s Line of Duty finale.
Warning: spoilers below.
But the finale to series five of Line Of Duty left fans disappointed when ‘H’ was revealed to be not one person, but four bent coppers inside the force.
As prime suspect, Superintendent Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar), was left to fight for his survival in tense interview scenes with DCS Carmichael (Anna Maxwell Martin), DS Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) and DI Kate Fleming (Vicky McLure) raced against the clock to find evidence that would clear their gaffer’s name.
After scrutinising Matthew ‘Dot’ Cottan’s deathbed confession, Arnott concluded that ‘H’ wasn’t just one person but four bent coppers – Cottan himself, Derek Hilton and, revealed in last night’s finale, Gill Biggeloe.
One more corrupt policeman or woman is left to be identified.

With the revelation that Dot tapped out ‘four’ in Morse code as he lay dying at the end of series three, fans took to Twitter to voice their frustration.

Have loved #LineofDuty but slightly disappointed with the ending – felt rushed at the end and slightly sloppy that said on the plus side we all now know how to spell 'definitely' #LineofDutyfinale

Despite the fact ‘H’ wasn’t revealed and that Dot Cottan’s dying Morse code taps left many fans cheated and befuddled, the nation was united on one thing: fan favourite Ted Hastings cleared his name and survives to fight another day.
