Denise Welch graced the Loose Women panel last week looking a little different… And she admitted that her new look was due to her undergoing  alife-changing op.

Her colleague Kaye Adams quipped as the panellists took their usual spots: “You jogged on there like Joe Biden, Denise.”

At this, Denise declared: “It’ll be my life-changing surgery.”

Denise went on to apologise to viewers for her lack of eye-makeup before joking about plastic surgery. She explained: “For those who think I’ve had plastic surgery and wasted my money, I’ll tell you what my life-changing surgery is. You may have noticed that I’m not wearing any eye make-up and I apologise, I can see Twitter already.

“I had, two days ago, 48 hours ago, lens replacement surgery. It’s not cataract surgery, because I haven’t got cataracts. It’s because I’m sick of wearing glasses all the time and I’m sick of them being dirty. I cannot keep my glasses clean so I’m absolutely sick of it.”

She went on to say: “When you’re younger, you can have laser surgery. But for the older, who may get a cataract in the future Kaye Adams, I’ve had lens replacement surgery and I can honestly say, it’s freaking me out a bit because normally the audience is a blur to me from here unless I’ve got my glasses on. I can see the autocue…it’s unbelievable.”

Denise, who often sports eye-catching spectacles, continued: “They gave me a little bit of a tranquilliser which I have to say wasn’t unpleasant. It was incredible, the surgeon spoke to me all the way through. It was a bit like being in a spaceship, he talked me through it. He told me when I was losing an eyelash and he said back in the day when he started they would cut your eyelashes off and shave your eyebrows because of infection.

“I can’t wear eye make-up for two weeks, but if you’re thinking about having it, have it.”

Denise isn’t the only Loose Women star to suffer from eye issues. In fact, a couple of her co-stars have too!

Brenda Edwards recently rocked an eye-patch on the show – after suffering from an eye infection that she required hospital treatment for. She explained to viewers: “I just wanted to say thank you for the messages of support for my eye infection. It’s got a bit worse today. I was hoping it would get better when I went to bed last night and woke up but it’s got a little bit worse today so I am going to be going to the eye hospital to see if they can figure out what’s going on.”

She added at the time: “But in the meantime, I just wanted to say – peekaboo, I’m fine.”

Charlene White has also previously struggled with her eye area after suffering from an allergic reaction, which she explained to viewers back in February. Ouch!
