On today’s broadcast of Loose Women (August 30), presenter Kaye Adams powered through the show with a hoarse voice, igniting concern among viewers about her health.
Longtime host Kaye anchored Loose Women today – accompanied by co-hosts Nadia Sawalha, Frankie Bridge and Mariella Frostrup.
But the unmistakable change in Kaye’s voice was addressed from the outset.
Kaye Adams on Loose Women
“Hello, and welcome to your last Loose Women of the week. Probably the last programme I’ve got in me with this voice,” she quipped as the episode began.
As the episode continued, it became evident that Kaye was grappling with her condition.
Before launching into the final segment, she revisited the topic of her voice to express her apologies. “People have been getting in touch about my voice. I’m really sorry, I know it’s making your ears bleed, I do apologise,” Kaye said.
“I just woke up with this voice this morning.”
The host vowed to give her voice a brief rest, humorously adding: “I got a wee cough, sweetie. Frankie, do you mind doing the competition?”
Frankie took over to present the competition segment, as Kaye was seen popping a cough drop in her mouth.
Throughout the show, Kaye could also be seen sipping from a mug, presumably in an attempt to soothe her throat.
Viewers react
The reaction on social media was swift, with some viewers expressing concern. However, others criticised the show for allowing Kaye to continue as the anchor despite her croaky voice.
“Adams with her seasonal sore throat again, someone please give her a Strepsil,” one viewer wrote.
Another complained: “Please swap out Kay from the anchor of today’s show – she’s unable to speak and it’s distracting and icky.”
“Crumbs Kaye needs to go home,” a third viewer agreed.
“Next in Loose Women: Should you go to work if you are sick?” another joked.
“Is Kay ill? She doesn’t look well today,” a fifth viewer queried.
“Just switched on and noticed she seems to have a bit of a croaky throat too!” another responded.
After Kaye signed off of the lunchtime show for the weekend break, we hope she’s no resting at home with her feet up.
Get well soon, Kaye!
