The Loose Women presenters have proudly revealed that there’s no preferential treatment when it comes to appearance fees on the lunchtime show.
Regardless of age, star power or experience, the panellists are all paid exactly the same.
“There’s total and absolute equality. And that’s how it should be,” Nadia Sawalha revealed, as she was interviewed for the Mail On Sunday’s Event magazine along with her fellow co-stars Andrea McLean, Denise van Outen and Janet Street-Porter.
At a time when TV stars’ salaries are being hotly debated in terms of the gender pay gap, the show’s editor Sally Shelford told the mag their ethos of “absolute equality among the presenters” was the reason why it worked so well.
The show is still a ratings winner 18 years since it was first launched and attracts big star guests as well as panellists.
A huge variety of personalities from different professional backgrounds make up the panel, which is regularly rotated.
They range from former newspaper editor Janet, 71 to X Factor star Stacey Solomon, 28.
Meanwhile, Andrea, Ruth Langsford and Christine Lampard share the role as anchor for various shows.

From Katie Price to Ayda Field and Coleen Nolan, all the panellists who appear on the show are eye-openingly honest and willing to share intimate details about their lives and feelings.
This is another of the reasons why Janet thinks it’s so popular.
“It’s the only show on TV where women discuss things from their sex lives to the divorce laws, and it’s relevant to people’s lives because we are not just talking facts and figures but how it affects them and us,” she said.
Andrea agreed, saying their recent discussions about topics such as the menopause illustrate this.
In the interview, the stars also revealed they know of a few very famous fans of the show – including Oprah Winfrey, Samantha Cameron and royalty.

“The Duchess of Cornwall loves it because she told us. They all do,” Janet said. Wouldn’t it be amazing if she went on as a guest?!
