Lorraine Kelly spoke to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain about her anger at the NRA spokesperson who had appeared on the show.
“I was shouting at the television,” she told the hosts, “I mean, no wonder you got so irate.”
Earlier in the show Piers Morgan had lost his cool while interviewing pro-gun campaigner Dan Roberts in the wake of the Las Vegas shooting.

At least 59 people have been confirmed dead after Stephen Paddock opened fire on a country music festival, with more than 500 injured. He had brought 23 firearms to the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino, and was found to have more weapons, including explosives, at his home.
When speaking on the US gun laws Piers admitted that he found it difficult to be civil, as the subject enrages him.
“What can possibly justify buying 42 weapons,” he asked the pro-gun Roberts, “many of which are high-powered, semi-automatic rifles. How can you justify that?”
Roberts was dismissive of this: “Piers, there you go again – there is nothing exceptionally high-powered about an AR-15. In fact, it shoots the most low-powered centre fire rifle cartridge available in the market at the moment.”
“The man just shot 600 people!” Piers hit back. “Of course they’re high-powered! We heard the bullets go off ourselves! We heard them firing, Dan! You’re talking complete and utter nonsense.”
When Piers brought out two Kinder chocolate eggs – making the point that, while guns are easy to buy across the US, the chocolate eggs are banned – Roberts laughed in response, which pushed Piers further over the edge.
“Don’t laugh,” he snapped, “it’s not funny, 600 people got shot!”
Piers continued to rant: “Time after time after these massacres, you come on this programme – you used to come on my programme in America – and you look us in the eye and say, ‘The only answer is to do nothing – there’s nothing wrong with guns, it’s the people!’
“Because of your insane gun laws he can arm himself with 42 weapons and unload 600 bullets which hit Americans and people travelling from around the world, leaving 59 people dead.”

Speaking on the show later, Lorraine expressed sympathy with Piers’s rant. “I was watching that interview,” she said, “and I just couldn’t get my head around what he was saying, he actually said ‘hopefully nothing will change,’ he said that to you.”
She went on to say the interview frustrated her so much she was “shouting at the television.”
“Where on earth do you start having a sensible, reasonable debate when somebody’s coming at you from that stance?” she continued. “It’s impossible. It’s absolutely impossible.”
Piers suggested that issues of gun control meant a lot to Lorraine due to her coverage of the Dunblane shooting. Lorraine confirmed that covering the event had been “very personal” to her.
